Bertha E. Parsons

Bertha Parsons, 85, life-long resident of Sioux County, died Sept. 22, 1987 at her home in Harrison. She was born March 3, 1902 to John and Frances Eberspecher who came to Nebraska in 1889 and settled in the Hat Creek community.

She was a rural school teacher prior to her marriage to Jack Parsons on March 17, 1922. Parsons began ranching south of Harrison immediately following their marriage and were involved in raising Hereford cattle until 1957. In 1929 they purchased and occupied the William Jeffries home in Harrison.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Ladies' Aid Society, and she had served as a member of the District No. 7 School Board.

Survivors include her children; Phyllis Bixler, Lois Sturman, Connie Nicholas and Jackie Fullerton. Her grandchildren Bonnie Bixler Szidon and Joe Bixler, Sam and Scott Sturman, Jack and Liza Nicholas, Mary Ann Nicholas, Sharon and John, Mark and Jeff Fullerton and Joan Fullerton Pfister and 11 great grandchildren.
