Funeral services for Les B. Parker, 87, were held June 4 at Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland with the Rev. Gordon Swedburg officiating. Interment was in the Horseshoe Cemetery at Glendo.
He died June 1, 1999, at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
He was born March 23, 1912, in Wheatland, the son of Samuel Manfrone and Ursa Tobitha (Menefee) Parker. He was raised and educated in the Laramie Peak area.
In the early 1930's he moved to Trojan, S.D., where he worked in the gold mines.
He married Dorothy Lee Parr on May 9, 1938, in Deadwood, S.D. They moved to California in 1940 and lived in Santa Monica, Hawthorne and Redondo Beach.
He worked for Northrop Aircraft for 28 years. After retiring in 1970, they moved to Glendo, where he began a small gunsmith shop
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and served one term as mayor of Glendo. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Phillipps and her husband of Slidell, La.; a sister, Ruby L. Parker Kant of Lance Creek; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 13, 1992, his parents; a daughter, Leberta Jean Parker, a brother Wilbur Allen Parker, and a sister Doris Love Parker Schumate.
Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
