Paul A. Pfister

The Prayer Vigil for Paul A. Pfister, age 77, was held Sunday, July 31, 1994, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk. The Funeral Mass was Monday morning at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk with Rev. Carl Beavers officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Pfister died Thursday, July 28, at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home in Lusk. He was born April 24, 1917, on the family ranch south of Node, Wyo., the son of Thomas and Frances Seichter Pfister. Paul lived his entire life on the family ranch. Paul attended grade school at Node through the 8th grade and then attended the Catholic High School, Assumption Academy at Chadron, Neb., where he graduated in May of 1937.

Paul and his three brothers were very interested in the 4-H Program and Paul made his registered sheep operation his life-time occupation. He was a prominent Ramboullet sheep breeder. He served as a director for the American Ramboullet Sheep Association for many years; he also served a two-year term as President of that association.

Paul was a charter member of the Niobrara Sheep Association and sold rams at the Lusk Ram Sale from its beginning in early 1940, until his confinement in the Niobrara Nursing Home in December of 1991.

Paul had been a member of the Wyoming Wool Growers Association since 1938 and was a consistent consignor to the annual Ram Sale with top quality rams for 50 years.

Paul was active in the Legend of Rawhide Pageant since its beginning until his recent illness. Paul was active in 4-H as a leader. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau
and the Niobrara Rural Electric Association. He enjoyed traveling, working in his shop, playing pinochle and dancing.

Paul was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and served for a number of years as a trustee and also as treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Louis.

Survivors include three brothers, Joe and his wife Lenore of Node; George and his wife Jane of Chadron; and Leo and his wife Edith of Whitney, Neb.; one sister, Sister Teresa (Coleta of the Poor Clares of Omaha, Neb.); plus numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara Nursing Home or to the Lusk Ambulance Fund will be appreciated by the family.

Bader Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
