William H. Powell
Graveside services for William H. Powell, 70, of Victorville, Calif., who passed away June 2, 1989, following a short illness, were held Thursday, June 8, 1989, at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery with The Rev. James C. Ledgerwood from the United Methodist Church of Victorville officiating.
William "Bill" Powell was born Dec. 19, 1918, at Kirtley, Wyo., to Jessie Church Powell. (His father had previously died of the flu of 1918.) He married Zelma Penn May 10, 1941, at Harrison, Neb. They moved to Victorville, Cal., in 1958. He was a maintenance mechanic for the City of Victorville until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II overseas.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma, and his parents Hugh B. and Jessie Golden. Survivors include one son, Dwayne L. Powell of Victorville; two grandsons, Ryan and Cameron Powell of San Bernardino; two brothers Chester F. Golden, of Apple Valley and Burdette Golden of Yoder, Wyo.; three sisters, Leota Odle of Ogden, Utah, Stella Marie Pugsley of Torrington, Wyo., and Arlene Pugsley of Ukiah, Oregon.
Interment was in Riverside National Cemetery. Kern Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
