Grace Arelene Lawler Parmely

Services for Grace Arelene Lawler Parmely, 73, were held Monday Jan.22, 1996, at 1:30 at Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Sell from Liberty Baptist officiating. Grace died at her home in Casper Jan. 17, 1996, at 8:50 a.m.

She was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Harrison, Nebr. to John C. and Mable Clair (Helfer) Lawler. Grace was raised and educated in Harrison, where she grew up on the homestead.

After high school she moved to Mitchell, SD, then moved to Lusk where she met her husband, Donald Eugene Parmely. Donald and Grace were married March 28, 1944, in Douglas, Wyo. They moved near Lance Creek, near the 77 Ranch, and operated a cafe in Lance Creek. After the blizzard of 1949, they moved to South Dakota and farmed near Vayland. They later moved 35 miles south of Miller, SD and farmed there until 1960.

Grace and Donald farmed in Wessington, SD and then farmed on the old Cobb Place. They also farmed in St. Lawrence, SD where she sold beauty products for a few years and later worked at the sales barn in Miller, SD.

In 1962 they returned to Lusk. She worked at the local grocery store while in Lusk. They later moved to Douglas and she worked for Skelly Big Wheel as a waitress, and a nurses' aide at the hospital. They moved to Thermopolis where she was head cook at Canyon Hills Manor. They then returned to Casper in 1977 and worked at Woolworth's, Kassis and Grant Street Grocery. She retired in 1985.

She loved to crochet, and write poems.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin Parmely, of Colorado Springs, Kenneth Parmely of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Keith Parmely of Casper; two daughters, Twila Parmely Ford of Casper and Linda Parmely of Billings, Mont.; four brothers, Eugene Lawler of Meeteesse, Wyo., Arnold Lawler of Thermopolis, Wyo., John Clair Lawler of Sidney, Mont. and Albert Lawler of Portland; and sisters, Thelma Able of Spearfish, SD, Romona Horner of Crawford, Nebr., Deryce Reed of Belle Fourch, SD and Laurine Nunn of Apacee Jct., Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, a sister: Dorothy Able, and her husband.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Central Wyoming Hospice Program.
