Leo Mulligan, Former Manville Resident, Dies
Leo Mulligan, 76, retired employee of the City of Grand Island, Neb. formerly of the Manville community, died September 6. Funeral services were held September 10 in Blessed Sacrament Church. A Requiem Mass was offered. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.
He was born March 4, 1894, at St. Libory, Neb., to Henry and Margaret Foy Mulligan. He received his schooling and grew to manhood in this community.
He homesteaded at Manville, Wyo. and in 1925 he returned to Nebraska and operated a garage at Palmer. He married Mary Ambrose in 1927 and they farmed near Poplin and Loup City until 1941, when they left the farm and moved to Grand Island. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad, Ordinance Plant, and as a fireman at the Air Base. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the City of Grand Island in the Park Department.
He was baptized and confirmed to the Catholic Church. He was a member of the parish at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Survivors include three children, Bernard of Lincoln; Patrick of Grand Island and Mrs. Arnold (Glorene) Harders of Wood River, two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Stone of Grand Island and Miss Helen Mulligan of Lusk and 15 grandchildren.
His wife, parents, one brother and one grandchild died previously.
