Raymond George Morris
Ray Morris Dies Of Heart Attack Here Thursday
Ray Morris, 62, of Lusk died of a heart attack last Thursday morning. Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel Monday afternoon with Pastor L. T. Garner of Torrington officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mr. Morris and Jim Cole had gone out last Thursday to feed the Morris horses in the pasture east of town near the Sioux Refinery. They both took their own cars. Mr. Cole put the hay out for the horses and Mr. Morris remained by his car. When ready to go back to town they decided to meet in Lusk for coffee. As his car was having heater trouble, Mr. Morris got out, apparently to try to fix it when the attack struck. He was taken to Torrington by ambulance, but it is believed he had died instantly.
Mr. Morris had a history of heart trouble.
At the services, Mrs. Richard Korns, organist, accompanied Mrs. Dean Glandt and Mrs. Ab DeCastro as they sang "Shall We Gather At The River" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Casket bearers were L. T. Bonner, Harry Bonner, Ray Edwards, Ed Cook, Glen Parmely and Raymon Jenkins.
Honorary bearers were Otto Vondra, Stanley Johnson, Van Hank, Wayne Bible, James Porter, Don Carpenter, Ed Cole and Gene Leahy.
Raymond George Morris was born March 12, 1908, at Dunlap, Neb. to John and Amanda Morris. He grew to manhood and attended schools in and around Hemingford, Neb. June 15, 1931 he married Deloris Vaughn at Chadron, Neb. In 1937 they moved to Wyoming where he worked on a ranch south of Van Tassell. They moved to Lusk in 1943 where he worked for Joe Kuhn until '46, when he started his own mechanical shop which he ran until 1950. The family moved on a ranch north of Harrison in 1951 and worked for one and half years for Frank Zerbe. Leaving there they went out to the Venus Kilmer ranch and worked several years before coming to Lusk to make their home.
