Small Boy Drowns in Stock Tank
The Lusk Herald, April 17,1938
A terrible tragedy to which there were no eye-witnesses, occurred on the Splittgerber ranch south of Van Tassell Sunday evening.
The two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Morris, who reside on the ranch , was discovered to be missing about six o'clock that evening and a search for the little fellow ended 15 minutes later, when the little body was found floating on the top of the water in the stock tank.
Foot prints showed that the boy had climbed a fence and fallen into the tank in which there were only 18 inches of water, but it proved enough to be fatal.
Miss Kitty Vaughn, a neighbor who is a trained nurse, was called and rendered first aid, but without success and Dr. Reckling reached the ranch as soon as possible upon receiving a phone call but decided that the child was dead when discovered.
Funeral services were held in Van Tassell on Monday and burial was made in the cemetery there. The baby is survived by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
