Robert Fox, 21, Harrison Killed in Pickup Accident Sunday Morning
Robert E. Fox, 21, of Harrison was killed Sunday morning when he was thrown from a pickup in an accident 5 miles north of Harrison on the Monroe Canyon road.
Fox was driving a pickup owned by Bruce Wickersham 21, in which Bruce was a passenger. In attempting to pass another vehicle, Fox lost control of the pickup. It skidded and then rolled several times, a distance of approximately 600 feet. Fox was thrown from the vehicle. Wickersham was taken to the Crawford Hospital, treated for bruises and released. The pickup was totaled in the accident, which occurred about 8:35 a.m. No contact was made with the other vehicle. State trooper Max Iback and Sioux County Deputy Sheriff Duane Pullen investigated the accident.
Rosary service was held Tuesday evening in Crawford. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Catholic Church in Harrison with Father John A. Dennett officiating. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery in Harrison.
Robert Fox graduated from Sioux County High School in 1968 and would have been a senior this fall at the University of Nebraska.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Fox of Harrison; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Folchert of Bradshaw and Mrs. Mike Quintana of Denver; four brothers, Capt. J. D. Fox of Washington, D.C., Jim, Emory, and Owen of the family home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Fox of Crawford; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Semroski of Chadron.
