A.B. Mills Dies In Ariz. Monday; Funeral Here
A.B. Mills, 67, former Lusk resident and for 21 years Lusk postmaster, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home in Youngtown, Ariz. at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk Friday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. James Davis, pastor of the Lusk Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Lusk Cemetery. Graveside Masonic rites will be held. Military honors will also be accorded at the graveside.
Monday morning Mr. Mills was doing yard work together with his long-time friend, Ralph Olinger. Mr. Olinger is also a former Lusk resident. About 10:30 he complained he wasn't feeling very well and went to lie down. An hour later he was dead.
Mr. Mills was a resident of Lusk from 1928 to October 1956. He came to Lusk from Douglas where he had been teaching school. In 1928 he became manager of the Irwin-Mills Hardware Company in Lusk.
Mr. Mills was long active in community affairs at Lusk. He was a World War I veteran and is a past commander of Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of the American Legion, a past master of Harmony Masonic Lodge, a past president of the Lusk Lions Club. He also was active in the Lusk Congregational Church.
Mr. Mills was appointed Lusk postmaster June 13, 1935. He officially retired October 31, 1956 and moved to Rio Linda, Calif. Later he and Mrs. Mills moved to Youngtown, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; son, Richard of Crystal Lake, Ill.; daughter Mrs. Elaine Keiffer of Sacramento, Calif.
