Funeral services for Robert W. Miller, 78, of Lusk, were held May 28, 2002, at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk with Reverend Cliff Moore officiating. Interment followed in the Lusk Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Robert Miller died May 22, 2002 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Robert was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Long Pine, Nebraska to Clarence and Esther Miller. He attended schools in Havelock, Neb. and Long Pine. He graduated from Long Pine High School and started college at Chadron State in September 1942.
He was drafted and served in the Army Air Force in Florida, Mississippi, Kansas and overseas in the South East Asian Theater. He then returned to college at Chadron and graduated with degrees in education and Sociology.
He served four years as Superintendent of Schools at Brewster, Neb.
He changed his occupation to sociology, working in Sheridan County, Neb., and continued in that field until retirement in Lusk from the Wyoming Welfare Department. During his time in Wyoming he entered the National Guard and later retired from the Army.
He was an active member in St. George's Episcopal Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and in many other organizations and committees in Lusk and Niobrara County.
He is survived by one brother Ralph and his wife, Betty of Rapid City, S.D.; two nieces; one nephew; several great nieces and nephews and many dear friends in and around Lusk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stephen Miller.
A memorial has been established to the church.
Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
