William D. Miller
Services for William D. Miller, 95, were Saturday June 6 at St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk with the Rev. Robert Burger officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died May 30, 1987 in Fresno, CA. He was born Sept. 15, 1891, the oldest of 12 children born to pioneers Addison Lee Miller and Elizabeth Catherine Daley Miller, who homesteaded 10 miles north of Lusk in the late 1800's. "Billie" as he was known to his friends, carried on the ranching activities until the 1960's.
He married Ruth Irene Kistler on June 16, 1926 in Denver. He was a surveyor for the U. S. government before ranching became his vocation. He served as a Niobrara County Commissioner for 16 years. Upon his retirement at the age of 72, he and a friend, Blondie Marvin, frequented the local golf course.
Mr. Miller was an alumnus of Creighton University, a member of Harmony Lodge No. 24 A.F. and A.M., and served as a choir and altar boy in St. George's Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Green of Fresno, CA and Janis Soldan of Denver; a brother Thomas O. Miller of Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Helen Lieurance of Tacoma, WA and Virginia Thompson of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Mr. Miller died May 30, 1987 in Fresno, CA. He was born Sept. 15, 1891, the eldest of Addison and Elizabeth Miller's 12 children. The Millers had both homesteaded north of Lusk in the late 1800's.
"Billy", as he was known to his friends, was a surveyor for the U.S. government in his early years, and then carried on the family ranching operation until his retirement in the 1960's. Mr. Miller also served as a Niobrara County commissioner for 16 years.
