Alex Miller

Services for Alex Miller will be at the Open Bible Church in Lusk April 18. Officiating will be Jerold Romprey.

Music will be by Edna DeCastro, organist and Pastor and Mrs. Lois Romprey will sing duet "Where the Roses Never Fade" and "The Pearly White City."

Active pallbearers are Gordon Gleed, Paul Miller, Bruce Miller, David Merchen, Jerry Miller and Aaron Miller.

Alex Miller was born July 1, 1911, in Chicago, the oldest son of Peter and Dora Miller. He attended school in Chicago, Watertown, S, Dak. and Scottsbluff, Neb. The family later made their home in Whitney, Neb.

Alex married Mildred Saxton at Whitney, on July 1, 1936. This union was blessed with five children, Jeanette Gleed, of Rapid City, Bruce Miller of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; Connie Merchen of Rapid City; Charlene Miller of Roundup, Mont.; and Jerry Miller of Lusk.

The family moved to Lusk in 1949 where Alex was employed as a bricklayer for Oscar Bostrom, and later for Frontier Lumber. Many of the brick edifices on Lusk's main street and many fireplaces in the community are evidences of his skill. He later started Miller Construction in Partnership with his son Jerry who carries on with his talent.

He was a longtime member of the Open Bible Church of Lusk, faithfully committing his life to Christ.

Survivors include, in addition to his children and wife Mildred Miller of Lusk; brothers and sisters; Marie Derrick of Whitney, John Miller of Chadron, Neb., Bertha Bird of Houston, Fred Miller of Metaline Falls, Wash., Albert Miller of Jane, Wash., Pauline Murray of Beaumont, Texas; seven grandchildren; Paul Miller of San Gabriel, Calif. Aaron Miller of Lusk, Kimberly, Tina and Gordon Merchen of Rapid City, Ryan and Kari Miller of Lusk; numerous other relatives and friends.
