August Meier dies at 72
A funeral for August R. Meier, 72, of Gering who died Tuesday in his home, was at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church at Chadron. The Rev. Ted Nekoliczak officiated with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Chadron.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Chamberlain Chapel at Chadron.
Mr. Meier was born Dec. 26, 1903, in Sioux County. He was a former resident of the Harrison community and moved to Gering in 1971.
Survivors include his widow, Evelyn; son John of Gering; daughter Mrs. Lois Krivansk of Bettendorf, Iowa; sisters Mrs. Clara Speck and Mrs. Florence Barrett of Edgemont, S.D. and Mrs. Louise Wiedenfeldt, of Chadron.
Pallbearers were Frank Smith, Chuck Smith, Bill Widenfeldt, Bill Speck, Charis Fleming and Charles Irving.
