Graveside services for L. Madge McKinnis, 94, of Coffeyville, KS were held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1986 at the Lusk Cemetery. Rev. Mark Lohr officiated.

Mrs. McKinnis died Oct. 2, 1986 at Coffeyville where she had made her home since moving from Lusk in 1982. She was born April 14, 1892 at Oakland, NE, the daughter of William Addison and Lydia Ann Moyer.

She graduated from Tekamah High School and completed normal training in Tekamah. On June 14, 1917 she married Lynn G. McKinnis at Tekamah. The couple then made their home in Lusk where Mr. McKinnis was self-employed.

Mrs. McKinnis taught at the Lusk Elementary School until her retirement in 1960. She continued to substitute teach until 1970.

She was a member of the Congregational Church of Lusk, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Teachers of Wyoming, the American Legion Auxiliary and the PEO, of which she was a past president. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 4, 1943 and her son Earl in 1983.

Survivors include one half-sister, Mrs. Margaret Barber of Spencer, IA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Kay McKinnis of Coffeyville.
