Frances Irene McFarlane

Frances Irene McFarlane, a former resident of the Lusk - Lance Creek area died in Couer d'Alene, Idaho where she was living with her daughter.

Frances Irene McFarlane was born December 28, 1896, in Mill Creek, Pa., the daughter of Isaac N. and Anna Smith Gorsuch. She spent her early years in Mill Creek moving with her family to a homestead in the Hat Creek area in 1912. After spending about three years at Hat Creek, the family returned to Pennsylvania.

Irene, along with her brother Frank and sister Florence stayed in Wyoming with Irene finishing her education in Lusk.

Jack (Albert L.) McFarlane and Irene were married January 15, 1915, and had three daughters and a son. Jack McFarlane and his father Albert E. were engaged in dairy ranching on a ranch north of Lusk, then known as the Silver Cliff Dairy. They later moved to ranches north in the Lance Creek area and after retiring, temporarily lived in Douglas. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, The Order of Eastern Star and Electra Past Matrons Club.

Funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 13 at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Minerva Watson was organist with Mark Lohr singing "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer." Casket Bearers were Henry Stiles, Pat Miller, Bert Jones, Lloyd Hunter, Raime Fosher, and Ab DeCastro.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. McFarlane was preceded in death by her husband in August 1957. She is survived by her three daughters Frances Louthan, Rathdrum, Idaho, Dorothy Dobson, and Mary Jane Weber, both of Denver; a brother Frank of Huntinton, Pa., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Note: Although this obituary states the date of birth as December 28, 1896, the year of 1895 has been used here, as this is what is on the gravestone.
