Jack McFarlane Dies in Douglas; Service Here Sun.

Albert L. McFarlane, 65, known to many as "Jack," died at the Converse Memorial Hospital in Douglas last Wednesday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

A quartet composed of Mrs. A.F. DeCastro, Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb, Al Davenport, and Joe Mills sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were Ray Baughn, Clint Dern, Del Shoopman, Bill Craft, Zip Thompson, and Tex Connors.

Albert L. McFarlane was born to Albert E. and Mary Jane McFarlane April 1, 1892 at the old townsite, formerly known as Silver Cliff. He attended school in Lusk.

He was engaged in ranching in the Lusk and Lance Creek area the major portion of his life, having moved to Douglas upon retirement.

In January 1915 he married Irene Gorsuch. They were the parents of three daughters, Mrs. Frances Louthan of Rathdrum, Idaho; Mrs. Dorothy Dobson of Sidney, Nebr.; and Mrs. Mary Jane Weber of Yakima, Wash.; and a son who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; his daughters; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen Willson of Lusk; a brother Ralph, also of Lusk; a half sister, Mrs. Kathleen Hunter of Torrington; and a half brother, Claude, of Tacoma, Wash. Two brothers, Archie and George, his father and mother previously died.

Former Lance Creek Resident Dies Wed.

Jack McFarlane, 65, long time resident of the Lance Creek Community and pioneer died at the Converse County Hospital at Douglas Wednesday, Aug. 21 due to a lingering illness.

His two daughters Mrs. Dorothy Dobson of Sydney and Mrs. Frances Louthan of Yakima, Washington were with their father at the time of death. Another daughter Mary Jane also of Washington was unable to be present because of the illness of their mother, Mrs. Jack McFarlane who is in a Yakima hospital. Funeral services and burial were held in Lusk Sunday afternoon. Close friends of the family from this area attended the services.
