Melvin Wilton "Mac" McCreary
Funeral services for Melvin Wilton "Mac" McCreary, were held Aug. 13, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, with Andy Gudahl, officiating. Interment was in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Mr. McCreary died at his home in Wheatland Aug. 10, 1999.
Mac was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Peabody, Kan., the son of James William and Hazel Hettie (Bair) McCreary. The family moved to Burns, Kan., where he was reared and educated; graduating from Burns High School in 1932.
On September 8, 1932, he married Loudema "Irene" Daly. In the early years of their marriage, the McCreary's farmed in Burns and Chelsea, Kan. In 1946, Mac bought a repair shop in Burns but decided to move to Wyoming and settle in Wheatland in 1947.
Mac had a number of endeavors during his life in Wheatland which included a hauling business, real estate, coin operated dry cleaning, hog farmer, investment counselor, salesman for Texas Refinery Corporation and Basin Engineering, and a worm farm operation supplying local retail outlets. They enjoyed traveling and fishing and Mac continued to enjoy the stock market.
He is survived by three daughters: Virginia Accord of Craig, Colo.; Judy Woolsey of Yucaipa, Calif. and Jeannie Wilcox of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; eight grandchildren, including Cory and Chad Wilcox of Lusk; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Meredith McCreary.
He died with his wife, Loudema "Irene" McCreary.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Woolsey, George Woolsey, Cory Wilcox, Chad Wilcox, Chet Accord, Don McLean and Nathan Lewis.
Memorials to the Platte County Memorial Hospital, Family Comfort Room, 201 14th Street, Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
