Charles E. McCarthy, Lusk native, died May 14 at Lincoln Community Hospital, Hugo, Colo., after a short illness, according to information received here recently.
Funeral service was conducted at the First Methodist Church in Limon, Colo., with Father Phillip Nevels officiating. Charles McCarthy was born December 6, 1920, at Lusk. After growing up here he attended the University of Wyoming and was a graduate of the Denver University School of Law. He served three years in the armed forces during World War II.
He moved to Limon, Colo., in September, 1949, and purchased the Lincoln Theatre. His wife, Wanna, still owns and operates the theatre. He had been a practicing attorney in Lincoln County since 1949 and was Town Attorney for the Town of Limon much of that time.
McCarthy is survived by his wife, his son Jack McCarthy of Lincoln, Nebr.; two daughters, Julie McCarthy of Denver and Sharon McCarthy Hansen of Genoa; two sisters, Lareen Feinstein of Denver, Colo.; and Marilyn McCarthy of Bennett, Colo.; and one granddaughter, Heather McCarthy.
