Sadie McCart, 90, Dies in Alliance
Sadie Iona McCart, 90, a Sioux County pioneer, died recently at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Alliance.
Mrs. McCart was born November 16, 1882 in Ottawa, Minn. As a child she moved to Danbury, Neb., with her family. She married James F. McCart in Danbury on June 21, 1901, and they homesteaded in Nebraska in 1905. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961.
Survivors include two sons, N.W. McCart of Loveland, Colo.; and C.F. McCart of Lander, Wyo.; five daughters, Laura Wilkins, Hemingford, Neb.; Lois Rowles, Scottsbluff, Rita Smith, Berthoud, Colo., Katherine Farnsworth, Alliance, and Fern Pliley, Laramie, Wyo.; a sister, Dixie Clendenan of Los Alamitos, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren, and nine great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at the Bates-Landa Funeral Home in Alliance with Elder Elmer Testerman officiating. Burial was in the Hemingford Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory to either the Nebraska Historical Society in Lincoln or to the Seventh Day Adventist Memorial Fund.
