Mrs. Dern Dies In Douglas Tues.

Mrs. Ethel Dern, 75, died Tuesday afternoon in Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas following a lingering illness.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dona Keller; one brother, Charles Hitchew of Lusk; and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Milhoan of Bosier City, La.

Dern Services Held Here Friday

Funeral services were held Friday from the Peet Chapel for Mrs. Ethel Dern, 75, who died April 28 in the Converse Memorial Hospital in Douglas following a lingering illness.

Rev. Frank Bozart of the open Bible Church officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Lavonne Pfeifer and Mrs. R.C. Bafford sang, "Beyond The Sunset" and "Whispering Hope". Mrs. J.P. Watson was the organist. Pallbearers were: J.G. Randolph, C.E. Marvin, Ambrose Kinney, Carl Briscoe, Floyd Fraser, and Joe McConaughey.

Ethel Hitchew was born September 19, 1889 the daughter of George and Mattie Hitchew on a ranch north of Keeline. In 1910 she and Clinton Dern were married. They had two children, Mrs. Donna Keller and a son Oliver who died when 13. Mr. Dern died in 1960.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Keller of Lusk; one brother, Charles Hitchew of Lusk; and one sister Mrs. Hazel Milhoan of Bossier City La.
