Funeral service for Oliver Ray Martin, 67, of Veteran, a former Lusk resident, was held Friday, Aug. 29, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington, with the Rev. Eugene West officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, in Torrington, with graveside service by the I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Oliver Ray Martin was born February 17, 1908 in Green City, Mo. He was educated in Pennville, Mo., schools. Mr. Martin married Faith Hensley, August 20, 1931, in Pennville. They have been residents of Wyoming since 1934 when they settled in the Veteran area. He was employed in ranching and farming for many years, and had also worked as a carpenter. The couple resided in Lusk and Wheatland for a time as well as one year in Twin Falls, Idaho. Mr. Martin was a member of the Church of God in Green City, Mo. and of the Encampment and Military branch of the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 48 of Torrington.
Mr. Martin is survived by his widow Faith of Torrington; one daughter Mrs. Jim (Sue) Stebar of Anoka, Minn.; eight sisters, Mrs. Faye Morgan, Deerborn, Mich.; Mrs. Page Smith, Leroy, Minn.; Mrs. Alice Cornmessar, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Irma Stuart, Mrs. Rita Fields, Mrs. Juanita Rouse, Mrs. Anna Carr, and Mrs. Elverine Anderson all of Green City, Mo.; two granddaughters and one grandson; one daughter and two brothers died previously.
