Memorial service for Andy Martin was held

Memorial service for Kirtley native Andy Martin was held at Peet Mortuary Chapel May 20 with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating.

Andy Lester Martin was born March 11, 1919, in the Kirtley community, the son of George and Florence Martin. He died May 17 at Natrona Memorial Hospital in Casper.

Martin attended school at Kirtley and as a young man moved to Nebraska where he was engaged in farming and construction work. He had lived at Belvidere and Alexandria, Neb., for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

On October 16, 1937, he was married to Ida May Hales at Harrison. He and Edna May Snakenburg of Wheatland were married March 4, 1956. She died in January 1974 and was survived by three daughters Sharon Cramer, Cecil Jessee and Cleo Deering. On October 17, 1975, he and Edna M. Gaston were married at Alexandria.

Martin is survived by his wife Edna of Alexandria, five children, George of Belvidere, Andrea Roth, Safford, Ariz., and Peggy Jugler, Stanley Martin and Linda Phillips, all of Casper; three step-children, Garnet White of Texas, Jenett Eickmann, Oklahoma and BurDon Gaston, Nebraska; one brother Earl P. Martin, Reno, Nev., three sisters, Opal Plumb, Lusk, Pearl Chrisman, San Diego, Calif., and Ila Margagliano, Washington, D.C.; 30 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Virgil and one grandson.

Edna DeCastro was organist and Mark Lohr, soloist, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." Pallbearers were Jim Groves, Stewart Sides, Lee James, Floyd Bartos, Floyd Alexander, and Earnest Hales.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery. Memorials to the Heart and Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
