Pete Mark, 57, Dies Here Sat.
Pete Mark, 57, died in Lusk, Saturday night. Funeral services were held from the Peet Funeral Home in Lusk Tuesday afternoon with Rev. C.M. Jervis of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Pete O. Mark was born at Lynch, Nebr., December 1907 to Fred P. and Amy E. Mark. In 1911 the family homesteaded south of Harrison and he attended the Eden Valley and Harrison schools. When a young man he joined the Army and spent four years in Central America with the Eleventh Engineers.
Soon after the attack on Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and saw action in the Eighth and Ninth Air Corps in Europe throughout the entire American envolvement there.
Since the war Mr. Mark lived in Wyoming and South Dakota where he worked in mines and prospected for minerals.
During the services Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Lyle Eddy accompanied by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro on the organ, sang, "An Evening Prayer" and "Let the Lower Light Be Burning." Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery with Reg Bafford, Harve Ledford and Don Taylor according military honors for Wieten-Dupes Post No. 4 of the American Legion at Lusk. Pallbearers were James Roberts, Lusk, Lawrence Adams and Tom Lewis, Van Tassell, Frank Lewis, Torrington, Lyle Lewis and Raymond Riley, Harrison.
Survivors include his stepfather, Lorenz Heller of Torrington; two brothers, George (Eddie) of Lusk and Ralph of Torrington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
