Deloris M. Morris

Graveside services for Deloris M. Morris, 89, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 1992, in the Lusk Cemetery with Rev. Del Cowley of the First Baptist Church officiating.

She died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1992, at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home in Lusk. She was born Nov. 29, 1902, in Colorado Springs, Colo., the daughter of Charles and Margaret Vaughn.

The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, when she was a young child. She graduated from high school there and later attended Union College in Nebraska for two years where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught school at Van Tassell, Wyo., where she met and married Ray Morris in June 1931.

They moved to the Hemingford, Neb., area where they engaged in farming. In 1937, they moved to the Prairie Center area where she again taught school for a short time. In 1942 the family moved to Lusk where she cooked for different cafes until her retirement. She then worked for the Green Thumb Program at the Stagecoach Museum in Lusk.

Morris was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Torrington. She also was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the War Mothers in Lusk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons and one brother.

Survivors include one son, J.G. Morris of Lusk; one daughter, Ethel Ward of Lander; one sister, Ida Wall of California; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

For those who wish memorials to the Niobrara County Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
