Amelia Lindquist Dies Last Wednesday
Mrs. Amelia Lindquist, 68, died last Wednesday at the Weston County Memorial Hospital in Newcastle after a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Lusk Congregation Church with the Rev. James Davis officiating. Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro sang "In The Garden of Tomorrow" and "In The Garden," accompanied by Mr. J. P. Watson on the organ. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Sullivan, Max Bird, Larry Eddy, James Barrett, A. F. DeCastro, and Wayne Dainton.
Mrs. Lindquist was born in 1895 in Rega, Latvia. In 1923 she married Karl Lindquist in Moscow, Russia and immigrated to the United States, becoming an American citizen in 1930. The family lived in New York for one year and then moved to Miami, Fla. In 1928 she and her husband moved to Phoenix, Ariz. where Mr. Lindquist died in 1932.
When Mrs. Lindquist came to this country she did not speak English, although she spoke five other languages. She was not long in learning English and the American way of life. In 1939 she came to Wyoming and operated a restaurant in Lusk in 1950 when she went into the ranching business, for ten years in the Keeline area and for the last four the last four north of Hat Creek.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Emma Thurmond, two grandsons, James and Paul and her son-in-law, Paul Thurmond.
