Mass for Mrs. Lewis

Funeral Mass was celebrated for Mrs. Henry (Doris) Lewis at St. Leos Catholic Church Saturday morning and Rosary was recited at Peet Mortuary Chapel Friday evening. Mrs. Lewis died May 11 at Niobrara Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Doris Kinney was born on January 22, 1920, at Spalding Neb., the daughter of John M. and Ina Wise Kinney. In the spring of 1929 her family moved to Lusk where she completed her education graduating from Lusk High School with the class of 1938.

After graduation she began a life of serving the public through her employment by local businesses, along with caring for her mother, and dedication to her church, according to her family.

She and Henry W. Lewis were married June 1, 1957, in Lusk. They made their home in the Gillette and Newcastle areas until 1965 when they returned to Lusk with their daughter Katherine. Mrs. Lewis resumed working in Lusk spending her free time enjoying the interests and recreation of the community with her family. At the time her serious illness was diagnosed she was deputy county clerk.

She is survived by the widower Henry and daughter Katherine of the family home in Lusk; one brother, Ambrose of Livingston Mont., and one sister, Cecelia Shaffer of Casper.

The Rev. Bartholomew Svete presided at Mass and Rosary. Organist was Mrs. Ann Wasserburger and Norma Willson sang "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus," and "Jesus Keep Me Close to Thee."

Casket bearers were Jim Sides, Gary McFarlane, Terry Larson, Kirk Sides, Robert McFarlane and Gene McCoy. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the cancer fund.
