Cora M. Leeling
Funeral services for Cora M. Leeling, age 97, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Reverend Mark Lohr officiating. Interment followed in the Dellview Cemetery at Manville, Wyoming. Mrs. Leeling died Friday evening, Dec. 26, 1997, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home in Lusk.
She was born May 25, 1900 in Peru, Nebraska, the daughter of Mattie Smith and Charles M. Swope. The family later moved to Kansas by wagon.
Cora married Herman Leeling on January 31, 1916, in Harrison, Neb. They moved to the Divide homestead where two children were born, Anna Belle and Leonard. Anna Belle died of the flu in 1918.
They moved to a ranch north of Harrison where Cleo, Edna and Allen were born. They then moved back to Kirtley on his father's ranch where Warren, Herman Jr. and Margaret were born. They lived there for 15 years when they moved to Flattop, Wyoming. In 1944 they moved to Manville where they lived for the rest of their lives.
Cora was active in the Manville Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, her lawn and garden and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman, one daughter Anna Belle, two sons Leonard and Allen, and two grandchildren Janet Faye Outhouse and Robert Leeling.
Survivors include her four children, Cleo Petersen of Harrison, Neb., and Edna Outhouse of Lusk, Warren Leeling of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Margaret Heine of Lusk.
For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara County Nursing Home will be appreciated by the family.
Bader Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
