Funeral services for Newcastle resident, Phyllis Bayne, 86, were held at 2 p.m. March 2 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Firebaugh and Rev. Trish Underberg as co-officiants . Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. The family prefers memorial contributions to the Michaels' Senior Center or Weston Manor.
Mrs. Bayne died Feb. 26, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.
Phyllis was born August 31, 1915 at Havelock, Neb., the daughter of Noah and Grace (Hansen) Clinebell. The family moved to Wyoming in 1919 and homesteaded south of Newcastle in the Morrisey Community. Phyllis attended the Morrisey School and was a graduate of Newcastle High School.
She married Clyde Owen Bayne on September 9, 1933 at Hot Springs, S.D. they were the parents of four children. Following the death of her husband in 1984, she married Roland Rogers on July 24, 1989. He also preceded her in death.
Phyllis was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, active in Women's Club in the Morrisey Community, a 4-H leader for many years, and a fine seamstress and homemaker. She loved to attend dances with her husband, Clyde. Phyllis was an avid correspondent with many family members and friends, and gathered family history all her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Diedtrich and her husband Gene of Newcastle, and two sons, Clyde Bayne and wife Louise of Newcastle, and Gary Bayne and Debbie of Lusk. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. One brother had died in infancy.
