Virginia Kumpf Dies Sat.
O. Virginia (Mrs. William) Kumpf died suddenly of a heart attack early Saturday morning, Nov. 18, in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. She had been hospitalized several times the past month.
The Rev. Ronald Marshall officiated the memorial service held at Peet Mortuary Chapel Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 21. Music was provided by Mrs. Minerva Watson, organist, and Mark Lohr who sang, "The Lord's Prayer" and "Come To The Church In The Wildwood."
Interment was in the Lusk cemetery. Pallbearers were Dick Pfister, Robert Pfister, Gene Lenz, Dale Fullerton, David Lorenzen and Stanley Wasson.
O. Virginia Kumpf was born June 7, 1911, in Calhoun County, Alabama, the daughter of Buck and Lena (Lindsey) Wright.
She attended school and grew to young womanhood at Ashville, N.C.
She married William L. Kumpf Sr. Dec. 6, 1930, in San Antonio, Tex. They were the parents of one son William Louis Jr. The family lived in San Antonio until 1963 when they moved to Lusk to manage the Ranger Hotel. They lived in the Ranger until it changed owners in 1969 when Mr. Kumpf retired.
The family then moved to an apartment above Whiteaker's store where Mr. and Mrs. Kumpf lived for seven years until moving back to the Ranger Apartments two weeks before her death.
She is survived by her widower William L. Kumpf Sr., Lusk; son William L. Jr., daughter-in-law Sandra (Ward) Kumpf and two grandchildren Kari Sue, Virginia and William Charles, Rawlins; one sister Evelyn Bridges, Ashville, N.C.; and three brothers Jack Wright, Decatur, Ala.; Harold Wright, Birmingham, Mass., and D. B. Wright of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
