M. J. Kuester Laid at Rest in Lusk Cemetery Following Funeral Rites Friday Morning at St. Leo's Church

Requiem mass was conducted for the late M. J. (Mike) Kuester, at ten o'clock Friday morning by Father M. J. McBrien at St. Leo's Catholic Church.

Rosary services were held Thursday evening August 23rd, at eight o'clock by Father McBrien, from the chapel of the Peet Funeral Home.

Bearing the remains to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery were Earl Criss, Harry Burnham, Francis Clapham, Mahlon Peterson, Andrew McMaster and Kenneth Sturman.

Survivors include his wife, Stella of this city, and a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kelso of Douglas, Wyoming.

Michale Joseph Kuester was one of a family of six children, born to John H. and Catherine Kuester on July 8th, 1871, at Elmira, New York, and departed this life August 21, 1956 at Lusk, Wyoming having attained the age of 85 years, one month and 13 days.

His early life was spent in New York state, and as a young man in 1903, he came westward to Lead, So. Dak., where he established a hardware store. In 1913, he came to Wyoming and established a hardware and implement business in the then growing community of Van Tassell. For several years, he operated stores in both Lead and Van Tassell, and then disposed of the business in Lead to make his home in Van Tassell.

On October 26, 1920, he was united in marriage to Miss Stella Cribbis at Omaha, Nebr. They became the parents of one daughter, "Mickey."

They family continued to make their home in Van Tassell until 1947, when Mr. Kuester retired from business and they moved to Lusk, where they have since made their home.

Out-of-town relatives and friends here for services were Mr. and Mrs. Harry McDonald of Idaho Springs, Colo., Mrs. Fred Roeder of Berthoud, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Deen of Mineola, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kelso of Douglas, Wyo.

Mike (Kuester) Dies In Hospital Tues.

M. J. (Mike) Kuester, 85, long time resident of Niobrara County, died Tuesday afternoon at the Spencer Hospital of old age complications.

A Rosary service will be held in the Peet Chapel Thursday evening at 8:00. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24. Pallbearers will be Harry Burnham, Earl Criss, Andrew McMaster, Mahlon Peterson, Francis Clapham, and Kenneth Sturman.

Mr. Kuester was in the hardware business in Van Tassell from 1913 to 1942 when he retired and moved to Lusk. He was taken to the Spencer Hospital August 10.

Final Services for M.J. Kuester Held in Lusk Friday

Concluding rites were held Friday at 10:00 a.m. for M. J. Kuester, 85, from St. Leo's Catholic Church with Father J. J. McBrien officiating. Burial was made in the Lusk cemetery.

Members of choir singing chants were Miss Pauline Bruch, Mrs. Carl Bruch, Jack McMaster and W. D. Wasserburger, Mrs. Henry Wasserburger, Sr. was organist.

Casket bearers were Earl Criss, Harry Burnham, Francis Clapham, Mahlon Peterson, Andrew McMaster and Kenneth Sturman.

Michael Joseph Kuester was born July 8, 1871 at Elmira, New York and died August 21 at the Spencer Hospital from complications of old age.

He was reared in Williamsport, Penn. and as a young man came westward to Lead, S. D. where he established a hardware store and also one in Van Tassell. He later sold his store in Lead to a brother.

He and Miss Stella Cribbis were married in 1920 at Omaha. They were the parents of a daughter, Mickey. Mr. Kuester retired from active business in 1947 and moved to Lusk where they have since made their home.

He is survived by his wife, Stella, of Lusk and a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kelso of Douglas. His parents and five brothers and sisters have previously died.
