Last Rites Held For Minnie Koch
Funeral services were held for Minnie Koch, June 17 at the United Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Lee Gorman officiating. Interment was made in the Harrison Cemetery. She died June 15 at Chadron.
Pallbearers were Charles Mumby, Dick Carnahan, Jerry Eberspecher, Duane Pullen, Tom Broderick and Alvin Publow. Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Howard, Tress Powell, J.A. McClarey, John W. Marsteller, George Schaefer, Charles Schaefer, Lew Sherrill, Bill Grote, Rudy Hartman, John Parsons, George Wickersham, Carl Buckley, Bill Buckley, Dell DeHaven, Ernest Pullen and R. M. Kennedy. Josephine Kennedy sang "The Lord's Prayer" and the Methodist Choir sang "Peace Be Still."
Minnie Jane Sutton, daughter of Sarah Elvira Earl and Lelana Missouri Sutton, was born February 27, 1889 in Greenfield, Adair County, Iowa. She came to Harrison with her parents and brother Earl in 1889. Harrison was her home for the rest of her life with the exception of one year spent in Greenfield, Iowa.
She received her education in the Harrison schools and graduated from the Chadron Academy. She was married to Martin Koch in 1912. Four children were born: Lois Erwin of Wilmington, Calif., Beryl Bootjer of Santa Barbara, Calif., Bruce of Suitland, Md., and Willadell DeHaven of Harrison. In addition she leaves one sister, Ona Lindsey, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church and served as organist for many years.
