A memorial service for J. Wallace Knox, of Estes Park, Colo., was held Sept. 17, 2003, at Community Church of the Rockies of Estes Park, with interment at the Loveland Cemetery.
Junior Wallace Knox died Sept. 13, 2003 at his home.
He was born July 11, 1924, to Oscar and Arda (Wilson) Knox. He graduated from Loveland High and the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. His college ROTC service in the Navy led to service in Korea and at several bases on the west coast. On Sept. 27, 1947, he married his college sweetheart, Barbara Jean Reilly, in Boulder, Colo.
Wally joined Mountain Bell Telephone and for 41 years worked in Fort Collins, Greeley, Pueblo and Denver, where he retired as a traffic engineer.
He was a member of Community Church of the Rockies, Estes Park Lions Club, Longmont Columbine Lions, Broomfield Jaycees, and Masons.
As a member of the Lions Club he was awarded the Melvin Jones Humanitarian Fellowship. His involvement included building Homes for Habitat for Humanity in Longmont and Estes Park, a shelter for battered women in Longmont, Center for Training Dogs for the Disabled, and the Presbyterian Highland Camp.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; one son, John of Berthoud, Colo.; three daughters, Sharon Baker of Bellevue, Colo., Karen Tadich of Fort Collins, and Barbara Cushman of Lusk; one brother, Earl of Estes Park; two sisters, Mary Joan Krening of Loveland, and Wilma Lacy of Loncalla, Ore.; grandchildren John Knox, Symantha Rudolph, P.J. Baker, Elyse and Jennifer Tadich, Wyatt, Harley and James Wallace Cushman and great-grand children Drew and Hannah Rudolph.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clint, Harold, Ervin and Vernon, sister Edna Lucille, and granddaughter Sarah Jane Knox.
