William G. "Bill" Kimes, Sr.
Services for William G. "Bill" Kimes, Sr., 58, were held Monday at Sheridan United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Robert H. Robinson officiating. He died March 1, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Bill was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Portage DeSioux, Mo., the son of Bill L. and Delsie (Dixon) Kimes. He was raised in Colorado.
He married Diane Toombs in Winona, Mo., on Aug. 26, 1967. They lived in Fort Collins, Colo., for several years and moved to Sheridan in 1998.
He worked in the logging industry until 1973 and then was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver until he was disabled in 1996.
His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping and fishing and was well-known as a fantastic cook.
He loved his church and was a member of the Sheridan United Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Winfred Kimes.
Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; his daughter Melba Madsen of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Eddie Kimes of Fort Collins, Colo., and Bill Kimes, Jr., of the family home in Sheridan; his sister Melba Rye of Fort Collins, Colo., his brother Donald Kimes of Manville; and his three grandchildren.
Champion Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
