Funeral services for Ruth "Arlene" Kilgore, age 70, were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Colyer Funeral Home Chapel in Torrington with Rev. Peggy Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in Torrington's Valley View Cemetery. She died on Feb. 16, at Torrington Community Hospital. Visitation hours were held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in her memory to either the Torrington "Waggin' Tails" animal shelter or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arlene was born on June 16, 1931, in Scottsbluff, Neb., the daughter of Jacob and Julia (Gettman) Betz. She grew up in Scottsbluff and worked at the Hauke Drug Store. On July 26, 1951, she married Charles Martin Kilgore, D. C., in Ft. Collins, Colo. The couple then resided in Wheatland, Lusk and Torrington.
She is a past member of the BPO Elks Lodge, the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family, camping, chili cook-offs, crocheting and playing cards. She especially enjoyed her pets.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Murphy and her husband Bill of Torrington; four sons, Charles Kilgore, D.C., Kenton Kilgore and Clayton Kilgore and his wife Kerri, all of Torrington, and Mike Kilgore and his wife Betsy of Castle Rock, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and one brother, Henry Betz of Scottsbluff, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and infant daughter, Sandra Gail a sister, Lydia; and four brothers Jake, Dan, Ed and Elmer.
Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of the arrangements.
