Maurice Keel Funeral Held in Harrison Friday
Funeral services for Robert Maurice Keel were held from the Memorial Methodist Church of Harrison Friday afternoon. Mr. Keel died of a heart condition in his sleep the night of January 10.
The Rev. Jim Keith officiated, and Mrs. Keith sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden". Mrs. Minnie Koch was organist.
Pallbearers were Jim Meng, Ernest Hales, Dan Christian, George Atchison, E. E. Whiteaker, Ted Lohr. Honorary pallbearers were Ray DeGering, Ray Christian, Orville Dryer, Bob Plunkett, Ray Larson.
Rev. Keith delivered "The Cowboy's Prayer" just as Mr. Keel had done many times previously. Mr. Keel, who loved to give western readings, had given "The Cowboy's Prayer" at the recent services for Mannie Knori.
Mr. Keel was born to Robert L. and Birdie Coffman Keel at the Keel ranch north of Harrison August 7, 1903. He was reared on the ranch and loved western ranch life.
He and Vivian Cochran were married at Hot Springs February 19, 1927.
In 1933 Keels moved to a ranch in the Whitman, Wyo. area where they have resided ever since.
Besides his widow, survivors include a son, Robert of Wauneta, Nebr.; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Lingreen of Sterling, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Taylor of Douglas, Mrs. Addie Mudgett of Grand Junction, Colo.; Mrs. Eva Geike of Harrison and two grandchildren.
