Ross D. Kay
Memorial services for Ross D. Kay, age 82, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel. He died on December 28, 2000 at his home in Lingle and cremation has already taken place.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lingle Fire Department and Rescue Unit.
He was born on April 7, 1918 on a farm near Eaton, Colo., the son of William Drummond and Blanche (Wilson) Kay. He attended school in Eaton and in 1938 and 1939 he attended Colorado State Teacher's College, which is now known as the University of Northern Colorado. He went on to graduate from Aero Industrial Technical Institute in Burbank, Calif. in 1940. He then taught welding in California in 1942.
He married Grace E. Belwood on May 23, 1942 at the Wee Kirk of Heather at Forest Lawn Park in Los Angeles County, California.
In 1945 the couple purchased a farm seven miles east of Greeley, Colo., where they lived for the next 25 years. During that time all five of their children were born. In 1968 they moved to Lusk, until 1979 when they purchased land in Lingle and built a house.
He is survived by his wife Grace of the family home in Lingle, two sons, Thomas W. Kay of West Richland, Wash., and Kenneth R. Kay of Cooper City, Florida; three daughters, Lou Ellen Kay of Los Cruces, N.M., Mary McDonald of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Roberta Kay Gray of Los Cruces, N.M.; a sister Margaret Kay of Greeley, Colo.; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Helen Rowe and a brother John Kay.
The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington is in charge of the arrangements.
