Linda Seegrist Kant

Linda Seegrist Kant, 62, passed away Dec. 21, 2004 in Portland, Ore., due to surgical complications. She was born Arpil 19, 1942, the youngest of five children, to Kenneth Ivan Seegrist and Ethel Jennie Finley Seegrist in Lusk. She married Robert Green of which three children were born to this union. She later attended college in Torrington after a divorce.

On Jan. 4, 1974, Linda married Michael F. Kant of Lance Creek, raising three step-children of this union. She drove a school bus several years then became a full charge secretary for the family business, operating Kant Oilfield Service from a home office, then later from Walt's Service and Supply in Lance Creek.

As a couple, they were active members and Sunday School teachers of the Lance Creek Community Church, teachers for the Lusk AWANA Club, active participants in Project Hope Food bank and ministry at the Correctional Facility for Women in Lusk.

They moved to Cheyenne in 1991, then to Hubbard, Ore. in 1993. She worked in Wal Mart's business office several years, then as a bus driver for First Student serving kids with special needs. Linda was still employed at the time of her death. She and Mike separated in 2004.

Linda loved gardening, old movies, computers, her special needs kids and trips to visit her six children. She loved having fun. She tried to help anyone in need, a giving person who will be missed by many.

Preceding her in death are her parents, step-father John Charles Backhaus, a half brother Don Jacobs and many aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her children Phillip Green of Lusk; Bradford Green of Grants Pass, Ore.; Geanie Cronin of Rolling HIlls, Wyo; step-children Susan Ferguson of Billings; Mike Kant Jr. of Casper and Marshall Kant of Craig, Colo.; three brothers Alfred Seegrist of Sheldon, Wash.; Clifford Seegreist of San Diego, Cali.; and Dennis Seegrist of Aurora, Ore.; one sister Delores Bennett of Thermopolis; one aunt, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial will be held at the Lusk Alliance Church in Lusk on Sept. 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. for family and friends with Pastor Jason Playle officiating. Creamation has taken place in Oregon.
