Virgil A. Kosmicki, 55, of Newcastle, died July 2. Cremation took place at Sturgis, S.D. A memorial cross has been placed at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD,
He was born June 9, 1941, in Rhame, N.D. to Louis and Emma Kosmicki. He received his education in Rhame and southern California. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and the reserves from 1960 to 1964. He received an honorable discharge in 1960. On June 30, 1961, he married Nila Wilcox in Miles City, Mont.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Rifle Association in California, Trap Shooters Association, Green River Golfing Association and Golden Gloves boxing team. He was known for his great love for family and friends. He enjoyed water skiing, hunting, golfing, farming, ranching, carpentry and playing sports. He liked helping others less fortunate and raised numerous troubled children.
Survivors include his wife of Newcastle; son and daughter-in-law Virgil and Kim of Newcastle; daughters and sons-in-law Gina and Walter Lashmett of Lusk, and Toni and Mike Wanamaker of Salisbury Mills, N.Y.; mother of Bowman, N.D.; brothers Rod and Dick; sisters Lenora Boushele, Nelda Susa and Shirley Jolbert; five granddaughters and three grandsons.
Worden Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
