Mabel Johnson Passes Sunday

Mrs. Mabel R. Johnson, 66, wife of Reuben Johnson of Lance Creek, died at 2:00 o'clock Sunday morning at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas where she had been hospitalized the past week.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Peet Chapel with Rev. Edward Poser, pastor of the Manville Community Alliance Church, officiating.

Mabel R. Carlisle was born August 10, 1896 at Newport, Nebr., the daughter of Franklin and Olie Eaton Carlisle. On November 29, 1916, she was married to Reuben Johnson at Stuart, Nebr. The couple homesteaded near Lance Creek in 1919 where they have resided since with the exception of a short time. They became the parents of six children.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ureka Valley Methodist Church at Newport. She was also a charter member off the Ladies Auxiliary to the William D. McKibben VFW Post 7562 of Lance Creek and was very active in the organization.

Survivors include her husband Reuben; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Miller of Manville, and Mrs. Florence Lancaster of Torrington; three sons, Wayne, Robert and Donald, all of Lance Creek; six sisters, Mrs. Gladys Veenker and Mrs. Alice Morrison both of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Nellie Porter of Gordon, Nebr., Mrs. Maggie Conrad of Phoenix, Mrs. Lillie McCune of Lusk, and Mrs. Maude Johnson of Casper; two brothers, Harry Carlisle of Lusk and Ray Carlisle of Atkinson, Nebr.; 19 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter who died in infancy, one brother, one sister and a grandson.
