Mary Almazan
Mary Trevino Almazan
Mary Trevino Almazan, 78, died Monday, November 6, 2000 at her home in Guernsey, Wyoming.
Mary was born to Pablo and Antonia Trevino on December 15, 1921, in Laredo, Texas. Her Parents owned several grocery stores which she helped them take care of at an early age. She met and married Willie Amazon in 1938. They moved to Scottsbluff, Neb., Lusk, Wyo., and finally settled in Guernsey, Wyo. Together they had eight children, five boys and three girls, who Mary called her jewels. They divorced in 1969 and Mary went on to become a successful mother and homeowner. Mary spent her free time reading and crocheting beautiful art pieces, which she would distribute among her children. She had a passion for playing Bingo and loved to travel, walk on the beach, and play nickel slots with her family. She worshipped at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Guernsey. Proud to be and American, she was active in the Guernsey V.F.W Post.
Mary was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She single-handedly hosted a bike-a-thon for the March of Dimes. At different times, she was on bowling and pool leagues. Mary will remain with her children in their hearts, but will be very much missed until they are once again reunited in heaven.
Mary was survived by six children, Willie Almazan of Denver, Colo., Richard Almazan of Kingman, Ariz., Robert Almazan of Thornton, Colo., Marianne Knutson of Hot Springs, S.D., Linda Almazan and Patricia Almazan both of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two sons.
Memorials can be sent to Hot Springs Public Library, 1543 Baltimore Street, Hot Springs, SD 57747.
