Joe Johnson Dies in Lusk June 27, 1966
Joseph A. Johnson, 78, of Lusk, died early June 27, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital
He was born February 6, 1888, at Scandia, Kan. He was two years old when he came to Nebraska with his parents who homesteaded in the Kirk Community in Banner County.
He farmed and ranched near Potter, in Cheyenne County, Nebr. for many years before moving to Lusk several years ago.
He was a member of the Potter Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and held office in the Eastern Star.
He married Gyretha Josephine Wilson on April 22, 1914 at Kimball. On April 26, 1964 they celebrated their golden wedding at the Potter Methodist Church.
One son, Joseph Robert Johnson, died in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army in 1945.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two brothers, Clarence W. of Lincoln, and Fred C. of Oakland, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Seola Dybdahl of Santa Cruz, Calif. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Potter with the Rev. Erwin Kiel officiating. Burial was in the Potter Cemetery.
