Avaley Lorain Johnson

Memorial service for lifelong Niobrara resident, Avaley Lorain Johnson, was conducted by the Rev. Frank Blish last Friday, Nov. 13, at Peet Mortuary Chapel.

Avaley Lorain Johnson was born December 27, 1912, to Lawrence and Edith Johnson, early pioneers of the Lusk area. She died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital November 10, following a lengthy illness.

She was reared and educated in Niobrara County, later attending University of Wyoming Law School and the University of Southern California. In 1951 she and her sister, Ihla Anderson, took over the family ranch which they have run for the last 30 years under the name of Johnson Sisters. She was formerly affiliated with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, The Wyoming Pioneer Association, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Niobrara County Farm Bureau. In 1959 she and Delbert Outhouse were married.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harleigh Johnson. She is survived by her sister Ihla Anderson of Lusk, four nephews, William F. Anderson, Lawrence L. Anderson, George L. Johnson, and Yoy Johnson; one niece, Iris Anderson Golumb; a number of great nieces, one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.

Active bearers were Ed Boner, Richard Pfister, Charles Bruch, Henry Wasserburger Jr., Ted Jones, Robert Scott, James Wasserburger and Walter Kant. Organist was Edna DeCastro while Joy Kaltenheuser sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Suddenly There's a Valley."

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the cancer fund.
