Roy H. Johns dies at Chadron
Roy Herbert Johns, early trucker in Harrison, died at Chadron on May 24, following a long illness.
He was born April 17, 1889, in Ottowa County, Kans. and came to Harrison in 1914. He started his dray business with a team of horses, and old-timers will remember his beautiful blacks, polished and standing like stone waiting for the hearse for the funerals of many Harrison pioneers.
Surviving him are two sons, LeRoy Johns, Vista, Calif. and Edgar Johns, Upland, Calif.; three daughters, Eileen Jordan of Bellingham, Wash., Betty Jeppson, Hermiston, Ore., and Patricia Lee Pickins of Fruita, Colo. There are 18 grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
