Robert W. Jassman

The Rev. Robert W. "Bob" Jassman, 57, of 114 Washburn, Ill., died Friday, March 6, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 5, 1940, in Lusk, Wy. to William and Maxine Jassman, he married JoAnn Hake on July 2, 1966, in Fall Creek, Ore. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Worland, Wy.; three sons, Stephen of Glasgow, Ky., the Rev. Daniel of Colfax and David Bloomington; one brother, Richard of Lusk; one sister, Carol Cowger of Worland; and two grandchildren.

His father preceded him in death.

He was a retired major serving in the army National Guard as a chaplain, He was a member of Washburn American Legion Post 661, where he served as chaplain, and Washburn Lions Club. He was pastor of Washburn Christian Church.

He was a member of the Illinois Valley Chapter of the College of Ministers. He served on the Regional Task Force of Town and Country Churches, as administration chairman of Illinois Valley Cluster, as director of junior high at Omega Camp, on the board of trustees of Snyder Village in Metamora, as president of Inter-Faith Council of Churches, as director of Washburn Vacation Bible Schools, and on the board of directors of Walk to Emmaus

Services were March 10, 1998, at his church. The Revs. Richard Garrett, George Knox, Scott Woodridge, Keith Jones and Robert DeBolt officiated. Burial was in Linn Mount Vernon Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.

Ries-McKitrick & Newton Mortuary, Washburn Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
