Resident Since 1914 Funeral Held Here Friday

Funeral service for Mrs. Olga Hughes, 78, was held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel.

Mrs. Hughes, a resident of Niobrara County since 1914 died December 24 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Robert Boutwell conducted the service with Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, organist. Mark Lohr sang "Rock of Ages", "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and "Beyond the sunset".

Honorary pallbearers were Clayton Harvey, Orman Millikin, Dan Smith, Woodson Graham, Doyle Blackmore, Fred Hansen and Legrand Lee.

Casket bearers were Lewis Bowen, Otto Krekeler, Robert Templeton, Richard Pfister, Delbert Outhouse and V. J. "Dutch" Kennedy.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial be made to the Cancer Fund.

Olga Raskmine Christensen was born Oct. 5, 1896, at Hemingford, Neb., to Pedar Kjar and Mette Kjirstine Christensen.

She grew up and attended school at Hemingford, October 30, 1914, she was married to Ewart George Hughes at Hemingford. That same year they moved to Wyoming and homesteaded southwest of Lusk in the Flattop area. Her husband died in May of 1956 and she maintained a partial residence in Lusk while also taking care of the ranch. She moved to Lusk permanently in 1967.

Survivors include four children Maurine Johnson of Glendo, Edward Hughes of Keeline, Gilbert Hughes of Glendo and Ruth Hytrek of Lusk; one foster son Lyle Smathers of Glendo; two sisters; two brothers; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, one sister, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren died previously.

Mrs. Olga Hughes, 78, died early Tuesday morning.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel.
