Funeral Service Held Friday for Mrs. Grace Hoy

Funeral service was held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the Peet Chapel for Mrs. Mabel Grace Hoy who died at her home in Lusk October 14.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger of Lusk and Pastor Lee Williams of Manville conducted the service with Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, organist.

A quartette composed of Dale M. Bardo, Gerald Bardo, Harry Lyon and Lee Johnsonbaugh sang "Amazing Grace" and "Beyond the Sunset".

Honorary pall bearers were Bunt Alter, Martin Brozovich, W. S. Tyrrel, C. J. Stafford, Orval Allen, Ralph Berg, Floyd Simon, Mahlon Peterson, Emerson Bonner, Martin Glandt, Floyd McCleerey, C. E. Marvin, Paul Morgan, S. E. West and Glenn Darnall.

Casket bearers were Harold Darnall, Harry Fernau Jr., Lorne Barr, Verle Ellis, Walt Fernau, Bob Zerbe, Bud Allen and Jerry Oestman. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mabel Grace Waddell was born January 15, 1893, at Allen, Neb., the daughter of Albert and Etta Stewart Waddell. She was educated in the schools in and near Allen.

She married Waldo H. Hoy at South Sioux City, Neb., Feb. 22, 1911 and they lived at Dakota City, Neb. and Springtown, Ark., before moving to Wyoming to homestead in 1916.

She lived at the ranch with her husband and family until his death in 1956 when she moved to Lusk and managed an apartment house until her death.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church at South Sioux City and never took her membership from there. When she was able she attended and was associated with the First Baptist Church of Lusk.

She is survived by six sons Maynard, Edgerton; Harold, California; Albert, Spokane, Wash.; Richard, Lance Creek; Wayne, Denver, Colo.; and Dale, Mitchell, Neb.; four daughters Mrs. Frank (Wyoma) Cole, Arroyo Grand, Calif.; Mrs. L. T. (Alyce) Boner, Mrs. Clayton (Oneita) Simenson, Grafton, N.D.; Mrs. Lloyd (Lola) Darnall, Gillette; a nephew, Dale Herfel, Ione, Calif., who made his home with the Hoy family for several years; one brother Bert C. Waddell, Manhattan, Kan.; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband and one son Lester, who was killed in World War II, four sisters and two brothers died previously.

Mrs. Grace Hoy Dies In Sleep

Mrs. Grace Hoy, 81, long-time Niobrara County resident died in her sleep Monday night at her home in Lusk.

Funeral service for Mrs. Hoy has been set for Friday at 2:00 p.m.

A memorial fund to the Nursing Home has been established by the family.
