Carol Hope

Chet, Carol and Jared Hope passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at their home in Whitefish, Mont.

Carol Hope was born Feb. 23, 1946, in San Bernardino, Calif., the daughter of John and Evelyn Mottoh. She attended high school in San Bernardino and graduated from San Diego State University in 1969. Carol's teaching career began soon after graduation, putting Chet through medical school, and she was teaching fourth grade at Muldown Elementary in Whitefish at the time of her death.

Carol loved teaching, was a gifted teacher, and loved her students. Carol shared Chet's love of the outdoors with her family and friends alike. She and Chet frequently sea kayaked the Whitefish River together. Last summer she and several friends organized their own four-day kayak trip down the Missouri River. She could often be seen walking, jogging , and skiing around Whitefish or hiking the trails in Glacier Park.

Carol made their house a home; no one was ever a stranger for long. For both Chet and Carol, their greatest source of joy was their children.
