Carol L. Holtz

Carol Holtz, 42, city clerk here since June of 1978, died Saturday in the Niobrara hospital.

Memorial service was conducted at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrison by the Rev. Beauferd Anderson of Lusk.

Carol Lee Jordan was born December 16, 1938, to Dan and Velma Jordan, area ranchers. She lived her entire life in the Lusk area, attending elementary school at the Indian Creek School and graduating from Niobrara County High School with the class of '57.

She and Durl Holtz were married June 9, 1958. They had one child who died at birth, and reared two other children, Kendy and Pam Rising.

Mrs. Holtz was actively involved in community functions. She helped organized the Niobrara County Alumni Association, was a member of Cow Belles and various other clubs. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lusk.

Mrs. Holtz went to work for the Town of Lusk in July of 1976 and later became clerk. Prior to that she was employed by the ASCS and Niobrara Electric Association.

Pallbearers were Town of Lusk colleagues of Mrs. Holtz - Dale Myers, Kester Akers, Milton Himes, LeRoy Leonard, Bill Anderson and Al Titchener. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Memorial music was provided by Louise Serres, organist, and Roberta Shockley and Shirley Schaefer who sang "Abide With Me" and "Lead Kindly Light."

Survivors include her husband Durl of Lusk, children Pam and Kendy, parents and a brother, Dale of Lusk, sister Sherry of Scottsbluff, and grandmother Millie Zimmerman of Harrison.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund. Funeral arrangements were by Peet Mortuary.
