Death notice

Ron Lund, age 48, of Lusk passed away on Monday morning at the Niobrara Health and Life Center in Lusk. A memorial service was today at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium in Lusk with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. A memorial has been established to the Harmony Lodge #24 Scholarship Fund in Lusk or the ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease Association, 720 S. Colo. Blvd., Denver, CO 80246.

Ron Lund, 48, of rural Niobrara County died June 12, 2006, at the Niobrara County Health and Life Center in Lusk.

He was born May 24, 1958, in Sheridan and attended the first grade in Newcastle before moving to Lusk. He graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1976.

On Sept. 15, 1979, Ron married Cheryl Hansen at the Congregational Church in Lusk, They moved to the Hansen Ranch where he ranched until the time of his death.

Ron was a member and the secretary of Harmony Lodge #24, the Wyoming Outfitters Association and a 4-H leader for many years. He was very involved in the 4-H Shooting Sports program, feeling it was very important to teach gun safety to our youth. He also enjoyed guiding hunters in the Snowy Range and especially southwest of Kaycee. His favorite time of day and year was just as the sun was coming up over the ridge, and he was gathering cattle to move to summer pasture.

However, the loves of his life were his 3 children, Caleb, Kyle and Chrisanna. He cheered them on at rodeos, wrestling matches, football, basketball and volleyball games and everything else in which they participated.

Ron was diagnosed on June 17, 2004, with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and fought a courageous battle.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; two sons, Caleb and Kyle, daughter Chrisanna; parents Larry and Mary Jo Lund of Rawlins; brothers Chuck (Kim) Sommers of Cody, Roger (Jenny) Lund of Nevada; and sister LarreeAnn (Randy) Kraft of Lusk. He is also survived by 3 very special people Brooke, Mason and Cally; his in-laws Pete and Wanda Hansen, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds with the Rev. Tom Strock officiating. Harmony Lodge #24 conducted a Masonic service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harmony Lodge #24 Scholarship Fund or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (ALS Division), 720 S. Colo. Blvd, Denver, CO. 80264
